Tutu Tuesday, 3rd Sept 2019!

TutuTuesdayJune2019Floral1a

Hi everyone and welcome to another Tutu Tuesday!  How's this gorgeous little number!

It's been so cold and wintery here in my part of Sydney that I've gone all winter colour themed lately.  I have had a great play with the Pigment Sprinkles that were released in this year's annual catalogue.  My goodness didn't I get in a mess, but what fun.  I think you'll love these sprinkles too. They are very different to the Brusho powders SU had out not long ago.  These new Pigment Sprinkles are exact matches to our ink pad colours, what's not to love about that.  AND they do not have to have a hole pierced into their lid, they already come with a little shaker lid under the screw on lid. Handy as and much easier to control as well as travel with, no spilling!

So what have I done?  I've selected colours that blend well and sprinkled them onto Fluid water colour paper.  Next I have carefully spritzed a find mist of water over the paper.  Make sure you have scrap paper, and a couple of layers too, behind your work because these sprinkles are very vibrant.

Here's how much I sprinkled on to my water colourpaper, the next photo is after I had spritzed it with a fine mist of water...

Next a quick blast with my heat gun to dry and flatten the paper back down again...

Tip:  when sprinkle the pigments you may notice that they don't look anything like the colour descriptions.  But wait til you've hit them with water and you'll see the bright colours appear, brilliant!  Below are some of the sheets I created, it's amazing how brilliant these pigment powders are. I have to say I love them much more than those Brushos. And you know what? You get 6 different bottles for much less than those Brushos cost too!  Got to love that!

When I'd finished playing, I turned several of these sheets into cards and I'm well pleased with the results I got.

This third one has to be my favourite & I've used the Very Versailles stamp set on this one

Tutu Tuesday, 30thJuly2019!

TutuTuesdayJune2019Floral1a

Welcome back, happy Tutu Tuesday to you all! Check out this lovely photo!. Very pretty AND I've tried to colour match it to today's tutorial too!

If you check my Facebook business page, Stamp Out Your Art With Virginia, this photo will be on there and animated too!

This colour scheme reminded me of a newsletter I received from Pantone®© last week, check out the colour palette they were talking about....

PantoneViewPointImageJuly2019a

What can you see there then?  I can see Purple Posy, Pacific Point, Mint Macaron, Pretty Peacock, Petal Pink, Mango Melody and Terracotta Tile!   How spot on are Stampin' Up! with their current colour pallets?  Pretty good hey?

Just a note here:  Regarding the availability of the Purple Posy ink pad and reinker. As of writing this, we do not have a confirmed date for when this new in-colour is likely to be available. Stampin'Up! are working really hard to get the product up to the standard you all expect from them.  Until such time, that particular ink pad colour and it's re-inker will remain unavailable. Stampin'Up! are deeply sorry this has happened, particularly with such a new colour.  Remember though, you can still buy it in A4 cardstock, in the 2019-2021 in colour Stampin Write markers pack and in the Stampin Blends pens!

This week I've chosen some of these colours to create a water colour background. Purple Posy has been substituted with Highland Heather. I've used some of the new Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper (page 169 in the annual catalogue) along with an aqua painter brush, a mini spritzer bottle full of water and reinkers.

I saturated the watercolour card first by spritzing with plain water.  Next, I put a dot of each reinker into the lid of it's corresponding inkpad (if you don't use all the reinker it's fine left in the lid of your inkpad as long as it's not too runny).  I gave it a bit more water from my aqua painter brush and brushed each colour from lightest to darkest onto the water colour paper.  You will see it bleed into each colour as you add it. Not enough colour for your liking?  Add a bit more reinker.   This makes the piece of card stock very wet so I put some scrap cellophane underneath as I worked.   I used my heat gun to dry the piece, front and back, once I had the colouring how I wanted it.   If you want to you can lift up the piece and let the water run from side to side, top to bottom, it's all good!

To complete my card I die cut out some butterflies and a nice floral flourish, wrapped a piece of the gorgeous Black Glittered Organdy ribbon (page 175 annual catalogue). I had the sentiment stamped already in my scraps basket so I'm sorry, can't for the life of me recall which stamp set that came from but it is punched using the Darling Label punch!  Layered onto Basic Black Card stock then onto a folded base card of Petal Pink.  I've also given the Petal Pink card edges a sponge with matching ink.

PurpleNewFabulous Fridays at 5'o'clock'ish!

Yay, welcome back, thank you for visiting!

This week I am showing you another technique that I've done using the gorgeous Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (free with any order over $90 but only til 31st March!)

I am so so loving this folder and today's creation.  What have I done?  I've used some gorgeous metallic leafing flakes and the multipurpose adhesive sheets to create a beautiful background with the Country Floral folder.  It can be a tad messy but it's so worth trying.

Cut your plain whisper white card stock to a card front layer.  Actually it can be any colour because you are not going to see it at the end.  Place it on a multipurpose adhesive sheet and trim down.

NOTE: Make sure you have a good, clear spot to do this. Ensure you do not have a window or door open or a fan on because leafing flakes are very light and can blow everywhere.  Have a clean sheet of paper that has been creased down the middle so you can pour the flakes back into their container afterwards.

Peel off the adhesive sheet and lay the card flat on the scrap sheet.  Start sprinkling the leafing flakes onto the adhesive, cover the whole thing very well, pressing them on.  Next, take a clean dry paint brush, not too soft, to brush off the excess flakes that can go back into their container.

Take your embossing folder and put the leafing covered piece into it. You need to decide if you want your finished card with the flowers raise or recessed, then run it through your Bigshot machine to emboss it.  See how gorgeous it comes out?  I love this folder and it's one I'll use for many many years.

This is my completed card.  I've placed my foil leafed, embossed layer onto a Basic Black card base. I've used a small strip of scrap card left over from another background I made that has copper metallic paint splats on it.  Punched out the Story Label punch to put my sentiment on and added some black gems to bling it up even more.   I've also decorated my insert paper with a strip of the leafed card too. A very striking card!

I hope you like this creation and information on how I created.  FYI, I bought my leafing sheets from our local Bunnings Hardware store (Australia) and then tore up about 3 sheets each of copper, gold & silver into a clean take away container.  They were not very expensive to purchase and will last a very long time for this kind of project.  You may have seen me use these flakes on some wooden letters I decorated for Christmas gifts last year too.  Fabulous product to keep in your stash and having the Stampin Up Multipurpose adhesive sheets on hand is another stable with in my supplies!

So, til next time, remember,

happy stamping, colouring & creating!
