15 January 2021

Fabulous Fridays @ 5'o'clock'ish, 15 Jan 2021!

Welcome to a slightly different FF@5'ish post.

This afternoon I'm taking a walk down memory lane.  This was prompted by a comment my stampin' up! upline made this afternoon.  It made me go and fish out this A4 art journal I have along with the huge D ring scrap booking album full of project challenges.  It was a year long challenge back in 2009. I was a design team member of a now defunct online scrap booking store/forum.

Each of us design team members were given different weeks of the year and we kept that challenge going for 52 weeks.  I was so proud of myself for talking part AND completing every single week's challenge, all 52 of them  Here are some photos of my work. I decided to keep a journal about the 52 weeks with photos and print outs of all the challenges.  It's something I love to get out now and then.  It's also something to show that yes, I do scrapbook now and then still.  I was quite prolific back then but since the introduction to both pocket page (project life) styled albums and digital scrapbooking, I've not done so many physical pages. One of the week's challenges was to make a journal about this year long challenge

I do find it hard to handle large 12 x 12 pages these days as well so I am sticking to 8 x 6 albums now and they suit me just fine.  I'm currently part way through making an album of my son's wedding.  I know, they've been married a year & a bit now but we can't rush these things  can we. Also, I didn't find any patterned papers that really fit the wedding's theme until last year's  holiday catalogue came out and I bought the halloween products.  Not a fan of halloween but oh my goodness, the papers were perfect to use for a Harry Potter themed wedding album, yay me!!

So here is the front cover of my art journal, as you can see it was called "52 week Pick-Up". This journal is full of printouts of all the week's challenges and samples, many include the instructions/how to techniques as well. It's a fabulous resource even today!  Looking back over some of the scrapped pages I've done sure has been lovely.

Here are some of the challenge pages

And here's some photos of the finished challenges.  There were page layouts which had to include 'found' objects, do not use patterned paper, card challenges, off the page items like a wall hanging too. This double page layout of my son as a teen is a favourite for sure!  It also won me an amazing prize back then as well.  He took the photos himself, clever lad!

And how could I not create & share a layout of the Sydney Swans!  We've been members for 18+ years, same seats all that time at the SCG! These are my own photos taken at games and we had to use 'found objects so I've used old brochures and a member card too.
Of course I had to do a layout of Donny Osmond. Within the space of a few years, I finally got to meet him in person, see him live and then see his whole family live in concert and meet them too, 2009, what a year that was!
Of course there were a few card challenges as well. These two are some of my favourite creations.  House Mouse stamps and PSX stamps are still used today though as I'm a Stampin Up Demonstrator, not as much as they use to be.  I must get them out again ;-)
My son Benjamin has always been a great source of inspiration to scrap and journal. In his last 2 years at school he and his mates had a bit of a band going.  This was a layout to spotlight just one in a group photo. I used photoshop to create a black & white photo, layered it over the top of the coloured photo one then erased that black and white photo just where my son was showing. Makes him stand out well I do believe.
And of course another swan's layout. I've used a membership post card and a photo I took myself of Adam Goods & Barry Hall. Oh those were some amazing games to be at!!

So I think this post has been long enough. Thanks for stopping by.  Wish us luck that our air conditioning will be repaired or even replaced by this time next week, it's a sweat box here in the hovel right now.

Til next time, remember,

happy stamping colouring & creating!

MondayMusingsJune2019A

Yup, here we are again at the start of a new week. My goodness, the time is flying along, it's 1st July today, many happy returns to my niece, JaimeeLee too!  See you on Sunday. Hope you are having a great time in Fiji honey.

It's, still as hubby's old navy speak goes, "All hands to action stations" here at the Hovel. Day two of plastering and sanding.  I've two very unhappy kitties who got put out in their enclosure just after 7am. Poor babies, it was 5 degrees celcius. I put out the small cat carrier as well so both of them have something to hide/snuggle in without squabbling. Mr Nibbles has been vocal, he'll have kitty laryngitis by the end of the day and they've another day tomorrow out there too.  I got some cute photos LOL, and a little video clip. Check out the racket I could hear once the workmen had taken a break for lunch....

I went and sat out there with the kitties whilst I had my lunch and gave them some treats, they liked that though Pip wanted my penne pasta which is not kitty food and I wasn't about to share LOL. It was too cold to stay out there for long, the sun had moved and the Jacaranda is brilliant green right now, shading most of the whole backyard.

Look at those little faces!  Ah it'll do them good, gives me a chance to get some much needed shuffling of stuff and culling without them jumping into boxes or into cupboards. I've shut one or the other in a cupboard a few times before now and not known til their pitiful cries could be heard, oops!

We had a busy weekend. Of course there was a Sydney Swans' game on at the SCG and brrr it was soooo cold. Coldest game I think I've been to but it was a great game.  The Herbster & I made it up on to the big score board again with our hashtag photo. We were both having a bit of a silly moment (all right, we have lots of those LOL)

But look, there we are, up on the big screen he he he. Is it the 3rd or 4th time this season, it's at least a hat trick I tells ya!

That's all for this Monday, the 1st of July.

Monday Musing...10/June/2019

It's a long weekend here in Sydney, Australia and the Herbster and I have been making the most of it.  We took time out of our house/shed repairs yesterday to go watch the Sydney Swans vs West Coast Eagles at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground)  OMGoodness what a game. It has to have been one of the most exciting games we've been to in a long time and we've been Swans members with the same amazing seats for the last 17yrs!  There was a lot going on at half time so we didn't see ourselves up on the big score board this time but here's our photo from Instagram (I'm #wirgie101) , it was still sunny, hence my new specs being a little dark...

Here's some of the shots from previous games that have made it up onto the scoreboard, it's fun using that hashtag and see yourselves up there.... #goSwans!

This is the great view we get from our seats, the players come out of the race just to the left of us, those banners are huge!  We are 5 rows from the boundary line, half way between both goal posts, the best view ever and we are blessed with these seats!

They also played this great song by Paul Kelly & Dan Sultan in honor of Adam Goodes. Finally after all these years, the AFL have apologized to Adam for the disgraceful way he was treated during that infamous final quarter game which saw a very ugly side to some fans. We were at that game and many afterwards and it was heart breaking to witness poor Adam's treatment!  We got behind Adam and we supported our best number 37 ever!TributSongTheFinalQuarter1

Here is a link to a news item that has recently appeared. A movie has been made about this too, we are looking forward to seeing it!  https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-07/afl-apologises-unreservedly-for-failures-over-adam-goodes-racism/11191880

And here is another.  Adam deserved that Australian of the year award and he deserves all the respect in the world! https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/play-the-final-quarter-in-adam-goodess-boots/news-story/fe218fcf51838f13688436337e6dabc1

Racism is disgusting, we are all human beings, we are all made of the same stuff on the inside.  In this day and age of multi media pushed into our faces, it's good to have something like this to remind us that we are all on this planet together, we are all 'brothers & sisters', we are all the same, putting our pants on one leg at a time.  No one should have been put through what Adam was put through. Sitting amongst that Collingwood game was quite frightening and to be honest, it's rare I got to any Sydney vs Collingwood games these days. (They've been on week nights so that's made it hard to get to them anyway) but I dislike with a passion that some fans can be so darn disgusting.

Okay, I've said my 'musings' for today.  Time to go do some creating and also see what else I can do to help the Herbster.  All hail NRMA insurance, we are getting a whole new roof on all of our house, our garage and the awnings up the back off the garage, new ceiling and electrical wiring/repairs to the back of the house and new lighting as well.  A lot more damage was done to our place than we knew about during those storms earlier this year. Remember those storms earlier this year and our house being flooded ?  Yeah, things are looking up at Hampson's Hovel, to the roof LOL.

byee for now and remember,

happy stamping, colouring & creating!
