Oh how I've missed my brayer 28May2018

Good Monday afternoon to you all!

Did you see my photo earlier today on my Instagram page? (wirgie101)

So what was I doing?  Well over the weekend as would want to happen when you live in a 'shoebox' you put things away then forget you did.  When looking for something else you find that said thing you put away probably 6yrs ago.  Wasn't I suprized because oh yes, when the new annual hits the airways on Friday, 1st June, yes this Friday, take a look at page 202. Bottom right hand side.  Uninked stamp pads can be a very handy thing.  I have many of the 1" un-inked inkspots (page 203 up the top centre) to make inkpads in the colours I don't have room to purchase the full sized pads for.  It's been some years since the multi coloured Kaleidacolor inkpads vanished from our catalogues but I do believe the blank ones coming in will be soooooooo popular.  You can make your own colour combinations, up to 5 colours on the one pad and yes.

PumpkinPatchMulticolourInkpadOld

This particular one was called 'Pumpkin Patch' . I has 5 different colours that blend together so well. Each colour pad even slides together so you've no gaps or slides apart so the ink colours don't blead into each other whilst being stored.  I couldn't believe how juicy this one still is!  You can see I've put a label to show what the colours would be today.  Multi coloured inkpads were so popular well over 10 years ago and I had a lot of them.  I can't wait to make my own combos once the blank ones are available too!   Here's what I created today.  I've used white gloss cardstock, stamped with Versamark ink & the skeleton leaves from the RIN (Rooted In Nature) stamp set that will be released Friday as well.  I covered the inked leaves with clear embossing powder and heat set them.

Once cooled, I inked up my trust Speedball brayer and starting just off th edge of the cardstock I ran it back and forth til all ink was off the brayer. I inked it up a couple of times and slightly turned my brayer so the colours well and truly blended together.  Once covered, I took a clean facial tissue and buffed up the card to remove the ink off the embossed leaves.

Edge with Black Berry Bliss ink pad, layered onto Blackberry Bliss card stock. The ribbon is new too. You can dye it as well or leave white as I have done.  My sentiment is from the same stamp set stamped and punched out with the Taylored tag punch.

Tip: if you want to layer your Taylored tag punch, punch out on a scrap piece of card stock then use the piece left like a stencil. Draw around it then using a ruler drawer around it again slightly larger . By doing that you can cut out multi layers like I've done using Blackberry Bliss, Gold foil and whisper white card scraps.

New products on the horizon! 26May2018

Happy weekend to you all.  It's been a lazy, musical, creative kind of day at the Hampson's Hovel today.

There's nothing more relaxing in our little house to listen to music and create on a chilly almost winter's day and that's just what we've been doing.   And I'm not shy to admit, amongst my huge music collection there may just be a ton of Osmond tracks.  I have to say though, picking up both volume 1 and 2 of Guardians of the Galaxy Mix Tape CDs yesterday was brilliant, got to love a bargain at JBHiFi ;-)

So you have to all be wondering about the new catalogue.  I've been creating this afternoon with the most gorgeous stamp set, Accented Blooms.  I am sure I could come up with so many different ideas but I did these two creations trying to use up what was in my scraps basket on my desk.  Ever had that moment when you know you've got something but you just can't find it?  Oh yeah, happens to me all the time in this cramped little corner. But phew, I found my silver embossing powder and yay, it's perfect for an elegant black, white & silver little number.   Hope you like them. There is a list at the bottom of this of what I used. Remember some items won't be available to purchase in my online store until 1st June 2018.       AND THAT'S ONLY NEXT FRIDAY!!!!!!!

(the background of this was created by sprinkling brushos on my open embossing folder then spritzing with water before placing the white card stock in and running through my bigshot machine. This is not my technique, I give credit to Alisa Tilsner for this)

NOTE: In the product list I have put 'new' in red next to items that will be in the new catalogue

Fabulous Fridays @ Five'o'Clock'ishHeaderJpeg

Well... g'day!

Sorry about last week's missing FF@F post,

it was a big busy week in Wirgie's world.

2nddoublepageVHThreadTechMay2018

Some of you may have seen the video I made earlier this week using Brushos mixed with water and the 'threading' technique that's been very popular online recently.  I loved trying this technique and it can be very messy as my video showed.  It's so worth playing with though, because no two thread pulls turn out the same.  Here is a gorgeous card I made with just using the Prussian Blue Brusho mixed with water and the thin cotton thread.  I did try thicker cotton twine but I mixed the Brusho with rubbing alcohol like I do when I hand dye my ribbons. I also used thicker paper ie water colour paper but ended up with just a spread mess of the colour.  Soooooooo don't be tempted to use water colour paper, it' will bleed all over the place.  You can try it but maybe with less soaked twine/thread??

I have stuck with a more or less monochromatic colour theme with this card. Below are the products I've used. As you can see, there's a gorgeous new 12x12 Designer Series Paper I've used in the background of my photos too, all listed below this to go live for sale at my online store 1st June 2018!  And that blue base card?  Oh yes, Blueberry Bushel!!!  Brushos are available NOW!

Playing with Brushos and water...

The Threading Technique, Wirgie's way!

So there's been this video going around the internet/Facebook/Youtube that a lot of us crafty and arty people are fascinated with.  I've been wanting to try it for weeks.  One of my fellow Stampin Up team mates Missy did a bit of a demo on our team page showing how she played with this Thread Technique and re-inkers.   I decided to have a go today but I didn't use re-inkers, I used Brusho powders mixed with a little plain old tap water.

I've got these cute little pyrex type mini bowls I've had for many many years and use to the max when crafting. Nothing stains them, nothing sticks to them.  So I set my little work area and away I went.  I've made a video, yes little old me made one and it was fun.  Here's a few photos of my play, finished art journal pages and my stained fingers.  What would Wirgie's messy play be without totally trashed/stained fingers LOL  And below the photos is my video.  Hope you like it!  On Friday I will have completed cards to show you using what I've created today and ooooo maybe some new products too ;-)

NOTE:  you may also notice I don't have push pins in the tops of my tubs of Brushos like lots have chosen to do.  I  did not do this because I don't have that much storage space and I needed to keep my box closed neatly and flat. What I did was get a tooth pick for each colour and wrapped each end with it's relevant colour in washi tape. I pick the Brusho powder up with the tooth pick and tap it onto/into what ever I'm using it for.  Works for me.

'til next time,

happy stamping, colouring and creating!
